hearts of iron 2 - milestones

I have optimised and scanned my PC to pieces, updated and fixed everything for normal maintenance, installed HoI2 and patches 1 - 3a and now when I start the game it asks for the latest milestone and then exits. Please help. In dire need of finally playing this game after owning it for a mere eight months as my HoI 1 has now given up the ghost as well.

Have you modified any of the files? Apparently, the patch has issuses with that

no, but trying uninstalling ans reinstalling again

yeah try reinstalling cos mine always acted funny when i modified my version

also were did you buy it? i have brought games from a game shop going under and they were actually selling dodgey copies of the game so you game could be corrupted from that or corrupted from the cd drive

whew thats about everything could go wrong
