Hey, after experiencing my ports being blocked and my 2mb line cut and getting speeds of 10kbps i've been looking for a new ISP(based in the UK). But also without phone services aswell as at the moment I have a talk talk land line which is fine unfortunantly talk talk adsl has fair usage.
The only one i've found is fast.co.uk but that's £35 a month for 2mb. So what i've found sofar is that to get good no port blocking no fair usage you pay for it. Does anyone know any ISP's who would fit my needs for normal prices? Cheers. |

By fair usage, dyu mean those that limit your download amount per month etc? I wouldn't normally recommend ntl since their customer services have been pretty poor in the past ime, but their connections have been more or less stable. Their current package looks tempting enough. 25 quid a month for unlimited 2mb with a bit of an initial discount. Not sure of the details though so dont take my word for it, and there's probably better out there... A friend of mine once recommended that Bulldog's 8mb one, they're cable&wireless i thnk

Yep, its a pain finding a decent UK ISP nowadays. Soon every ISP will be imposing usage caps/port blocking/etc. Mainly due to the wide spread availabiltiy of Broadband Max (8mb+). Within 2 years. I've signed with Tiscali, Eclipse, Pipex, Plusnet, Eclipse (again), and my current provider NDO. I get fed up of ISP'S changing their FUP's at the drop of a hat. So I migrate to another once the new FUP comes into play (I always choose monthly contracts). Unfortunately though, for less than £35 I doubt you will find an ISP that suits your needs...
BTW If you are planning on signing with fast.co. I would thoroughly research them first (customer feed back, do they support in/out bound migrations, monthly contracts, etc). Also do they have a customer forum accessible by none customers like this NDO forum. If not what are they hiding? In my experiance proly alot of disgruntled customers. [Edit] Heres a list of ALL UK ISP'S and their packages ADSL Guide and a UK ISP compare link (compiled using customer data) Whos the best? GL. |
