Hostile Waters (RTS game)

(Answering your question years later): I know Hostile Waters. The three final medals - Legion of Honour, Obsidian Cross and Golden Cross. A good question.

Underneath every character picture on the medals page, you will find that on occasion bars or columns appear. Eventually, three bars appear. Then, the bars will be replaced with one diamond.

This diamond is the Legion of Honour.

Play well, and this diamond will be joined by another diamond (Obsidian Cross) and perhaps a third (Golden Cross).

BUT, for the medals to be awarded, the character MUST have all the other medals, from Flying to Joint Services.

I've had Patton with wall-to-wall medals, and occasionally other characters win all except Golden Cross.

Now, how to get those bars? I'm not sure yet. You can win a bar on a mission (even two bars or three if you're lucky) WITHOUT winning a medal for your work on that mission. I have slavishly followed the tactics in the (US) Strategy Guide ('Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising: Official Strategy Guide', by Paul Bodensiek) and been rewarded with bars and diamonds, so it may have something to do with strategy.
