can I uninstall a patch that I installed?`Or is that impossible? And how do you do that?

I am afraid not. If you apply a patch, they tend to re-write the actual game files and not backup anything.

In the case of counterstrike, often times at lan parties back in the day lots of people would have different versions. Some would have Source, others 1.6, others didn't have it at all so had to play 1.3.

we found ways of installing a second copy onto all computers that ran 1.3 while the other version, be it 1.6 or source, was still around

so perhaps install the game on a different drive
