Another Oblivion Problem

When the game crashed, was it during loading? If so, I think you got hit with the same thing I did where the game tries to Autosave while Loading, and somehow manages to corrupt your Autosave and the Most Recent Save.

Even though you said you had auto save turned off, try removing all current saves from the My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves to another directory (i.e. Back them up) and see if the game works then.
