Your cpu must support sse2, which means that if your cpu isn't that recent or if it's not at least an athlon 64 or a pentium 4 then it won't work. I know, it sucks for the rest of us who are stuck with old processors, but I just hope the game will support non-sse2 compliant cpus when it's released.

Oh, and blame sega.

I downloaded the dmeo from this site, extracted the files, set it up then when i went on the actual demo it said medieval2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. Please tell microsoft about this problem and then error report stuff. I have tried reinstalling it but the same thing happens what should i do?

This is from the official website:

What are the minimum system requirements?
The minimum system requirements for Medieval II are:

English version of Microsoft® Windows® 2000/XP.

Celeron 1.8GHz Pentium 4® (1500MHz) or equivalent AMD® processor

and so on.. the point is -- I have a AMD Athlon 2500+, 1833 Mhz and it should be sufficient to play the game. So are you sure that's the real reason me and playa can't play the demo version? Please I need response ASAP!!

I dont think you processor is the problem. Not sure what it could be off hand as it just tells you it encounters a problem and shuts down. Drivers and dx is up to date right?

I had problems with demo too (i have this same computer).
I have heard that demo needs SSE2, but its not mentioned on official web because full version will not require it.

PS. If you will run demo , send me info how to do this ;)
