Game runs great on all high settings for me, but like Interman said it has its shortcomings but i just cant stop playing it.

If you understand german you can download Gothic The Movie from the Gothic homepage. It's an over 2 hour long flick using the original speakers of the first gothic game. then you can play gothic 2 plus addon which is for free (at least in germany it came with some game mags). and then hit Gothic 3. i would recommand to watch the movie if you havn't played the first game, otherwise you might not understand some of the story elements. and forget playing Gothic 3 with anything less than a X1900. even on that one it gets shakey some times.

Yeah, the erea is loaded as whole pieces which is a big plus over the constant loading from oblivion...but when it's loading you better have a good movie by your side sinse it takes ages.

I don't think the loading times could be as bad as Dark Messiah ;)

Little shuttering once i first start the game but it resolves itself in about 2 mins. And i did get a Low memory error or something like that when i was fighting about 20 Orcs in the capital city and it kicked me out, but i had 4 MSN conversations running when i looked the desktop

Another Quality product from Germany...And not to forget the big rumor about "the unknowen land" on the map being an addon. Just keeping the hope alive

Don't start. this game is one big problem, and the developers managed to do that to all 3 of the gothic series. fighting is a pain in the ass, too. A pig kills you easier than an army of orcs.

GM, does that shader thingy improve fps/stability? i need everything i can get to make this game run stable, its horrid.

One big problem ?!?!?! The fighting is so simplistic compared to Gothic 1 and the graphics even on my POS of a system are outstanding. I have an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton clocked at 2100 Mhz plus and also I have 1 GB of pc3200 ram (cas 2) and lastly a 9600SE ..... this is not a good system .... and yet it plays the game pretty much smooth as butter and yeah I turned alot of the effects down but the game still looks amazing even that way. Also about the controls ... my daughter who is 7 years old played the game today with no problems at all as well how can one have any problem with WASD, numbers and mouse controls. I mean to fight is soooo easy. I think you missed the boat here ...

and as for this site reviewing the game and knocking it for not being Oblivion well it should be applauded for not being Oblivion cuz at least on a beater system you can play this game

In fact if people are wanting to wait and not spend all their money on computer and gaming machines just to play Oblivion and other games that are already on pc well just stick with what you have .... Oblivion isn't worth the hassle when you have such a sweet game in Gothic 3
