Vista ready boost

Anyone have any good experience with it? Please post then or die by means of Modocks girlfriend sitting on your face

Hmmm, I had been wondering about that too. Anyone used a 4GB USB stick yet?

I was thinking about inserting my 1gb stick into my pc and another stick into your sister and her drunk friends :P I'll do it tommorow and post my results.

I've heard the performance increment is minimal. But what do I know.

Let us know how you get on Gazz. If its good I am going to get myself a 4GB Corsair Memory Stick and have me some 8GB RAM! Nice!

vista ready boost does work some what however you need to look at the speeds
is your swap file on a sata hdd that runs faster than usb 2 then ready boost will not be of any help to you.
do you have one giant drive and are tired of massive fragmentation then use ready boost.
do you run a slow ass ata 66 hdd (shoot yourself) then use ready boost
do you run a laptop..... why the hell are you not using ready boost?

however i must say this if you are running vista right now then you are a dee dee dee!
vista sucks and is no longer on my wife's laptop! i upgraded her from vista prem. to xp pro! and preformance jumped about 10 fold!
vista will not be any good untill the 2nd service pack comes out. and even then i'm not sure i would use it! i can still run damn near any game out there on win 98 so don't bitch at me about m$ droppin support on xp cause i just don't care.

ok back on topic we ran vista ready boost on my wife's laptop and saw quite a bit of a boost in the speed of programs launching, closing and web surfing. but didn't make and major difference in game play but then again it is a laptop so take that for what its worth!

I also downgraded from Vista x64 to XP Pro i386 for about 2 months. I waited for decent mainboard, sound and graphics drivers and when I put it back on my machine is sooo much nicer.

If you are suffering from performance then it is more than likely that you need more RAM. 1GB of RAM just doesnt cut it, so performance on most laptops is going to suck eggs.

Well, I have put my memory stick in and I haven't found any noticeable difference at all. I'll start with some random system tests tonight when I'll watch some tv or something and see if any different results will pop up with and without the extra 1 gb stick I have now.

Well thats what I expected to be quite honest. I find it difficult to comprehend how a USB2 memory stick offers any performance advantage over a fatboy swapfile on a seperate SATA drive.
