DAY OF THE TENTACLE

can someone please help? i've had this day of the tenacle game for yrs now, it worked fine on my first pc, which was really old and basic, but i can't get it to work properly on any other pc, there's no sound, i can't save the game and it keeps pausing. I've tried the internet and there's advice, i just don't know how to use it, most of them say use scummvn, i've downloaded it (i think) but i don't know what to do with it, it says something about winzip and dont know what to do. i've been trying to play this game for over ten years now. can someone please help me i'm so frustrated i want to cry.can someone give step to step guide on what to do, computer jargon stresses me out. please help!
