New unofficial detonator drivers are out. I gave these a go today, and got quite a nice increase in 3dmark scores.

Let's see, the cpu is a athlon xp 2100+ (locked palomino @ 133x13). The vid card is a XFX geforce 4 4200 8x, which has really nice heatsinks on the ram, hence the overclock to 302/718. The ram is corsair xms3500 running in dual-channel mode, but they're seriously limited by the locked cpu.

Detonator 43.45:
Default speed:
3dmark01: 11214
3dmark03: 1531
Overclocked:
3dmark01: 12559 295/718
3dmark03: 1811 301/718

Detonator 43.51:
Default speed:
3dmark01: 11759 (increase of 545)
3dmark03: 1614 (increase of 83)

Overlcoked:
3dmark01: 12637 308/718 (increase of 78)
3dmark03: 1866 302/718 (increase of 55)

The temperature was stable during this test period, but for some reason 3dmark01 finished with a higher ram speed than normal with the new drivers, which obviously affected the score.

I can't comment on the stability of these drivers yet, but they do add 3dmarks, so tweakers should grab them

Feel free to post your own results, preferably with before and after scores.

An increase of 500+ in 3dmark2001 score is really impressive but This will not reflect on how these drivers perform under games . I think its really complicated. some drivers lead to an increase in 3dmarks but a decrease in games and vise versa.

Interman, you didnt mention what MOBO your using and if it support 8x AGP?

athlon xp 3000+ with prometia phase-change cooling, about a gig and a half of corsair xms3500 ram, hercules radeon 9800 pro with phase-change or peltier cooling on the core and ram would be sweeter

I own a 9700 Pro and its really a monster VGA, but i spent 3 days optimizing it by trying over 8 different drivers versions of CATALYST :Oo: SO if you plan to buy an ATI card, prepare yourself for a class of tweaking
