Hello,

I,ve just been waiting a long time to get the Bioshock demo...

But i ran into a problem.

This is my setup:

Win XP Pro SP2. (UpToDate)
DX Version UpToDate
AMD X2 4200+. (with dual core optimizer software)
MSI K9N SLI. (UpToDateDrivers)
2Gb 800Mhz DDR2.
XFX 8800GTS 640MB. (ForceWare 163.44 "Bioshock Approved" Drivers)
X-Fi Fatality Soundcard. (UpToDate)
2×80Gb Maxtor...

When i run the shortcut or exe, the bioshock.exe starts up, and stops again... without even popping anything on the screen...
Please help!
I really want to test this game :francesco:

Ok, here's my extremely wild guess. I googled a bit for you to look for similar issues to come up empty handed, so it's off to the speculation department.

The only thing that might cause the mix up is the dx10 card you have running in a dx9 environment (xp). Let's just assume for arguments sake that backwards compatibility was overlooked in the rapidly released Bioshock forceware and that's causing the issues. Had any problems playing other games?

Tried the usual registry cleaning nonsense I assume? Also, I guess you used something like drivercleaner after uninstalling your latest drivers and installing the "Bioshock" drivers?

Thanks for the googling and thinking, i googled also :P

Ive solved the problem simply by getting the new disk which i wanted/needed, and reinstalling windows, DX and everything fresh!
Just started the bioshock up and ran it to demo start screen ;)
Now wait till defrag finishes :francesco:

Can you run things like 3dmark and other games without any hiccups?

Hey I have a different problem if I could get help. I keep seeing that dbghelp.dll is not found. Anyone know what might be wrong? I've tried re-installing and tuns of other things... nothing working D:

EDIT: This happened with Windows Media Player too. I'm thinking this might be a Windows problem? Any help appreciated.

just google for the file, download it and then put it in the proper directory. Most of the time it'll be the system directory. Here, http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-file...s.shtml?dbghelp, hopefully that'll help.

I have a DIFFERENT problem. I dled the demo and it executed it. The game entered well, till i noticed there were graphic glitches and i couldnt see the mouse cursor. Somehow i managed through the game and started the level. So the guy's swimming in the ocean i think, but all i see is black, and occasionally some fire.

I have a Ati Radeon X850. I installed the hotfix for Bioshock, but it didnt work. Can someone help?
