MODEM ROUTER

Hi guys was just wondering if you could give me any recommendations on a modem router for online gaming as the one i have is crap basically i play css and can only seem to ping about 200 servers but when i plug it in to a friends i get thousands sorry for the story book

but need help

sounds rather like you got a crappy server filter than your router

Think you need to realise what you just said there when you play counterstrike source and click find servers normally thousands come up but in my case about 200 come up its nothing to do with the server

A modem has an option to close certain ports and if your modem had done so, that it would lead to you not finding a single server at all. Finding just 200 servers clearly indicates you either don't have the latest patches or have your filters in a twist. Try looking at that instead of wasting money on another router that won't solve your issues.

Thanks gazz but i have tried filters patches everything under the sun also as to my first post i tried my friends modem and i was getting thousands of servers!!

Strange... Try tracing the connection route of both your friends and your game. You both might be logging into another mainserver.

try using tracert yes. Else reset your modem and router, or call your ISP! ;)

ok as im a little new what is this tracert is it a command you type in cmd??

Yeah that's a command, just traceroute a domain or a ip your friend can find and you can't!
