Minesweeper

I really have a question on minesweeper. Soo, my videocard died and i am too lazy to go get another one and started playing mine sweeper.
How does it work? I get the number means how many bombs touch that block, BUT sometimes it'll be a 2, and 3 bombs connect.
I thought it ment horizontal, diagonal, and verticle,
but sometimes it says 2 and there will be a third one verticle and i blow up,
then othertimes it seams it says 1 and it dosnt count the diagnol one.

I'm so confused.

It always show number of mines on fields conected to this one (horizontal/vertical and diagonal). So if there is "2" this means theres 2 mines around this field.

red lines show connections and as you see there is one line from fields with "1" and two from "2". Field with "3" is connected to two bombs and and needs to be connected to three so i i have to find one more. Pink line shows where should be this bomb (it can't be another one because 2 is already connected to two bombs).
