I'm running Mint 3.o Linux. Can someone tell me how to install Alien Arena? I'm new to Linux and installing programs manually.

Mint 3.0 linux?... What kind of minority distro is that? Get yourself something reputable or something like Ubuntu which is designed for newcomers. If you don't have a clue how to build packages or use linux without a GUI, then you should make it easy for yourself, not harder!

As Magus already mentioned you will need to run Wine to emulate Windows DirectX functionality in a linux environment. I believe with Ubuntu and Fedora Core you can select it and its dependencies as part of the installation routine.

Mint is based on Ubuntu. I've got Wine installed. Alien Arena is listed in the Synaptic Package Manager. Its just I'm allowed so much download a month. So I had someone to download it for me.

Well can you play it now or not then?

And GM2, Mint is not a minor distro anymore, it's pretty high on distrowatch, not as high as those others you mention but pretty high.
Just don't use Fedora core, filled with bs! ;)

I am not trying to belittle Ubuntu, it is fantastic at what it does, but for someone as tech savvy as myself I really couldn't lower myself to install it. It would be like being seen buying Windows for Dummies in a book store and wearing a Microsoft poloshirt!

I haven't tried to install it yet.I was trying to get info about installing it.I upacked the zip file and got a folder called "alienarena2007-20070613-linux.zip_FILES".Inside that folder is a folder called "alienarena2007,a file GamersHell.url, and GN3D.txt".Then inside the alienarena2007 folder is more folders and files.I was just wondering do I just unpack it in a folder and then run a command in the terminal to get it to run?
