Adsl is ussually much faster then dsl. How much faster, is depending on your local providers and the speed of your pc. But if your machine is able to handle Crysis, it should be able to handle high-speed connections. So it must be the dsl connection that is causing the slowness. So you should look for a good adsl connection. Be careful though, some providers seem to feel the need to get you poor. So don't try Vodafone! I have heard they ask 30 Euros per month for a connection of about 20MB/sec, a speed they might seldomly give you. At least, that's what I've heard.

I am happy for having a LAN connection, via the company I am renting my student room from. The speeds hit the roof!

Then you should get a ADSL connection, instead of the dsl you are having now. Prices and speeds may vary, but it should be possible to get a 20 mb/second conection for below 20 € (= about 25$).

Richard,

There are also a pile of tweaks you can do to your system to help your internet connection work more efficiently. You can GOOGLE it or go to speedguide.net and go through the tweaks. Believe me, it does help. Sometimes very noticeably.

I think he already has adsl he just keeps speaking about dsl coz he doesn't know any better
Those tweaks don’t do shit Buffalo, the only tweak that rly works is for cable modems it’s called uncapping and is highly illegal. :P
Just visit your ISP's website. From there you should find all the info you want Case closed!

Well, those tweaks have made a difference for me. I can't speak for anyone else though.

What you don't seem to understand is that I advised the starter of this topic to take adsl (instead of dsl). I do not have a slow comnnection. The company I rent my student room from, has provided me with LAN. The speeds hit the roof, my highest speed ever was 20 Mb/sec!
