I FIXED IT!!!! YAAAAAAY! FOR ANYone who wants to know how to fix CoD4 crashes of the type mentioned above, heres how to do it. ok so i was havin a weird problem with battlefront 2- i couldnt get into a game-it crashed when ever i tried. so i went to lucas arts forum, and i found a fix, and now BFII is working and CoD4 is working! heres what to do(for Vista, i dont know about XP):
Control panel>Hardware And Sound>Sound>right click inside white box and click show disabled devices>click the recording tab>right click the one thats disabled (stereo mix) and enable it

and its fixed! its so much easier than the other ways posted around! no downloading anything! yay!
