Alright, so here's the deal. Crysis crashes whenever I get to the cinematic on the 2nd mission. I've tried updating my drivers to the nvidia beta drivers.
Here's my specs: Windows XP SP2 2 GB RAM Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX Q6600 processor running @ 2.4 GHz per core. (No OC'ing.) Whenever I get to that cinematic, the game crashes. I don't have any crashes during the game otherwise. (Although I had one crash during a firefight after I installed the new drivers, but I had a few hours logged before hand with old drivers and no crashes.) Also, I'm not sure if this might be related, but there's a clicking coming from my PC occasionally while running intense applications. I popped open the case and I think it's coming from my video card. I suspect that it might be related to the crashes I'm experiencing. Maybe the fan there is failing? Looking to hear your opinions, -Vask |

That'd suck, as it's a brand new GeForce 8800 GTX. It shouldn't be dying, but it might. It's very strange when the clicking occurs, as of this reboot I haven't had a single click. Yet sometimes when I've booted up, it just won't stop. No matter what though it will always click a few times when I boot up the PC during the initialization.

Could be overheating problem. Install rivatuner or whatever app ya have to view your Gpu temperatures while playing. I'd say if it goes over 80c or 180f its too much.
Or that it doesn't get enough juice What psu do ya have? And are ya sure that the clicking comes from the GFX card coz it’s somewhat normal if ya have 600 series motherboard.. I'm not sure what it is but I have a theory that it has something to do with keyboard. If I enable usb keybord I hear clicks once and a while but with ps/2 port keyboard I get nothing, nada so as a DIY guy I covered the onboard speaker with tape Problem solved

LOL.
I must admit that is a somewhat funny solution. I was pretty sure it was coming from the gfx card, but you bring up an interesting point with it possibly being my mobo. I'll install rivatuner and check out my temps to make sure everything is going alright there. As for my PSU, I'm not sure on the make as I didn't build it from the ground up myself. I know it's rated for 750 watts, so it should be plenty. It is a possible solution however. Thanks for your insight and I'll link into all possibilities and post back here when I find out some more about what's going on. =) |
