On my laptop, Windows Vista (probably 64 bit) has been pre-installed. However, I am beginning to prefer a "rollback" to XP. Is it wise to do so?
By the way, here are the specs of that laptop: - AMD Turion x2 TL-58 (1.9 Ghz) - 2 GB DDR2 RAM - GeForce 8400M G Turbocache (265 Mb) - 320 GB Dual HDD (WDC WD1600BEVS-22RST0, so I guess it is a Western Digital) What I am wondering the most, is if I can get any significant increase in performance with XP. Additionally, are there any restrictions (or other issues) when buying an oem edition? Even if you don't have a clear preference to XP or Vista, I would like to get your opinion.

Well you will get some increase in performance, never really tested it extensively, but you will notice some.
Also no limitations on OEM for as far as i know, just no shiny casing and all And i've never seen a laptop/pc preinstalled with a 64bits version of a Windows OS, so I don't think yours is ;) ![]()

If you happened to have a old Xp lying around I'd suggest rolling back as well. I did the same just last week. However, you mentioned buying xp again and that's just not worth the money. It's 79.95 Euro I believe and if you already have vista I'd suggest tweaking the hell out of that one to gain performance instead of wasting a lot of money again.

Not sure, try this one or even this one. Both are great programs and have a 30 day free use built in. See if they might give that option.
