Failed to create directX

Can someone please help me. I bought DRIV3R pc game for my son for xmas and i cannot get it to play. The error message is failed to create directX, No supported display adapter found. I have trailed through loads of sites but still dont know how to fix this problem, kindly note i do NOT know a lot about computers but my son is driving me round the twist wanting this to work.
Any help gratefully accepted.

More than likely, you don't have a graphics card that can play the game.

NXS is probably right, but post your system specs anyway. Try to get your receipt from the store you bought your pc (you probably kept that or something similar for warranty purposes) and look if it says anything about what kind of processor and more you might have. Post those and we'll see if you have the right hardware specifications to run the game. If you have those we can help you get the game up and running in no time.

Microsoft windows XP media center Version 2002 service pack2
Advent intelR0 Celeron® M CPU
420@1.60GHz
1.60GHz,0.99GB of RAM

It partially does. But do you know what model graphics card your pc has? If you don't, tell us the brand and model of the pc so that we can look up the rest of the necessary info.

Sorry dont know how to get graphics card but laptop is advent 8109

And specs of the Advent 8109 can be found here. Let's be straight about it, the chances of you running driver on this budget laptop are below 10% and even if you get it to run it will be practically unplayable.

I suggest looking for a cheap second hand console like the PS2 (ebay is full of them) and get some games for your kid on that. Gives you time to check your mail without him breathing down your neck to play some game and he'll be able to play a game without you constantly wanting to check your mail. Win win situation.

Already have PS2 and PSP so will download game for one of those.
