Default Command & Conquer Gold - help!

Hi all,

Total newbie here, I downloaded the two part full game last night, plus the patch. I've read the "readme" file included, written the two .iso files to two separate discs as instructed, but now I can't install because... I cannot find the .exe files mentioned in the readme.

Am I being stupid, are they hiding, or should I just give up?

Please help - I really want to revisit my childhood and play this game

Uhm, I haven't read the instructions, so this is just an educated guess, but I assume you need to run dosbox, and then some setup file on the cd. As far as I can remember the setup used a VGA mode in dos, and that's probably not going to work in 2000/xp/vista without dosbox...

Did you just copy the .iso files to the cds, or did you use a burning program that "unpacks" the .iso files and writes them to the disk as seperate files? Last mentioned can be done with Alcohol, Nero and most other burning programs.

Edit: After the installation, you must not forget to install the patch (see instructions).

interman - no mention in the instructions about dosbox

Richard_Rahl - I used Nero. Did I choose the wrong kind of disk when it asks what you want to do? I went for data disk, added them to the burn list, and hit burn... But the files on the disks are still .iso files so obviously something has gone wrong. I have the patch ready to go, it's just the actual game install I have the issue with Any hints on what to do with Nero so it unpacks the .iso files for me please? Long weekend coming up, lots of time to waste

In Nero, you should look for an option that gives the possibillity to load and burn an .iso file. I do not have Nero so I don't know it precisely, but there has to be 1 or more options that are specifically for .iso files. So I guess you have to look for them or check the program's help function. Good luck!
