alrighty, i've been to the offical FAQ at the site for this game. i have Windows XP Pro and it says to install the game in compatibility 98 mode. so i right-click the "setup" on the cd and change that, then when i try to install, it wont even bring up the installer, it just give me an error saying my installer is not valid and it closes right away. it does this no matter if i try running this from the CD, or copy everything to the hard drive and try it. no matter what i try, even with NO compatibility mode, i CANNOT get this to even try to install. any help at all would be most appreciated.

my AIM is "eskimo083" also.

I have had a similar problem b4. WIth me it was a prob with the win installer, so, first try this......make another user with admin rights and try installing it that way. For some reason Xp got rid of a temp file for the instaler and nothing would install. This worked for me. Of course if it does not, you could try repairing xp or do what I do once a month and reformat

You also might consider checking out the official site. There are a LOT of problems with that game, so somebody there on the forums is bound to have run into a similar situation.

ok, i already formatted this thing twice in the past couple months for various reasons, and i am the only user (administrator) already.

but your statement made me think and think...

i disabled about 95% of my 'services' so i dont have 34,569,325 things running in the background of my already sluggish computer. so i checked....and my 'installer' was disabled. why the hell did i disable that, lol.

anyways, that was the problem and i'd like to thank y'all for the speedy replies. without em i prolly wouldnt have figured this out. take care!
