patches for games

I was wondering ,when downloading patches to games is it necesary to start with the first patch to a game say from a 1.01 patch to a 1.02, or do the latest patches contain all the previous made patches or fixes in them,so that you don't have to download all of them, just the latest patch that came out,thanks for the help.

Some patches contain all the previous updates and some patches don't. You have to read the patch description provided by the Game Developer.

Sorry to be a pain,just one more thing.If a patch does not mention anything about applying a previous patch first,is it safe to say is doesn't matter what order you apply them? Thanks again for your help.

Well, as long as you do not succeed a patch with another one with a lower number it is fine. So do not install for example patch 1.4 and then 1.2.

I think you need to get the first...
