medeival total war 2 patch help

hello

on medeival total war 2 when im in a fight with the a timurid army with artillery elephants the game crashes. ive tried downloading a few different patches but to no effect. i dont really have any idea of what im doing but it doesnt work :/

if someone could talk me through fixing the problem thatd be great.

ok. i downloaded something else and gave it a go. the artillery elephants attacked me and everything and it worked fine but after a few minutes it crashed anyway. i know have no idea whats making it crash but its to do with the timurids :S:S:S

Never had this happen to me, but I never bothered with the patches since they were so frickin' huge files. By the way, you can recruit elephant gunners and artillery as mercs near the Jerusalem province; show up more often if you play as Egypt but I only managed to get one of each at most.
