How to manually install Sims 3 update (Mac)

Hi there- I run on Leopard, on a Dual Core iMac, etc.- point is that my copy of The Sims 3 used to run fine on it.

Then I updated from version 1.2.7 to 1.3, and now everything in the world is wrong with my game. I prayed for an update that would get it back to normal, and then with 1.4- nothing’s changed (I could care less about custom content).

I was just wondering, because no one else will tell me, if you could explain how I can REVERT BACK to 1.2.7. I’m under the impression that I need to re-install the game, download the 1.2.7 update patch, and then apply it manually, but I have no clue how to do the latter. Sites keep telling me “You can download the patch here”, but never explain how to APPLY it on a MAC!
