hello! as i said before, i know nothing, so i'm back... ok ok ur superior! does windows 98 HAVE a video card? if not is there anywhere i can get one free (best price)? or if it does where i can upgrade it?

hmmm... Tell us what kind of computer you have. Give us as much detail as you can please.

Manufacturer and model # as well as any upgrades or changes you have made to it. Also how old is it?

Go to your local computer store that gives you upgrades, and ask them to put in a GeForce 4 Ti 4200

Your computer has a video card, It has to, to display something. As for what kind... who knows, only you can find out since you ahve access to your machine. a Vieocard is Hardware.... NOT software.

If you want a new one you need to purchase one, only way to get a free one is to win one in a contest /hint /hint

Mobo cards are not really made for gaming

The more I consider this, the more I think the above advice is the best thing you can do.

It's obvious that you don't do a whole lot with your computer, you just want it to do what you need to do.

Unless you are willing to take the time to get educated about computers and how they work, and are willing to open it up and install stuff and download drivers and keep them updated, etc. I don't recommend going very far down this road.

Treat it like I treat my car: if it goes, it's good. If it don't, then let an expert fix it.

In other words, take the game you want to play and the computer to a local shop you trust and tell them to make your computer run that game

If he only has a PCI slot, he would have to get a new mobo for an AGP card, PCI aren't really worth it at all.

My brother has a PCI card in his 1ghz Intel, and its bale to run MOH:AA just fine (364 SDRAM)

Yeah, Q3 engine games are fine for it, and like RTCW ET in which he wants to play, it will be fine, but for newer games, a PCI is seriously going to be a waste of money, even if it's not a whole lot of money.
