I am about to set up dual monitors on my pc and was just wondering whether anyone has ever had any problems with them before?

Thanks

I'm going to try this soon, but haven't yet. If you have any problems, I do have some knowledge about the common ones you may encounter. There's a page in the Microsoft KB (I assume you're running XP, I could be wrong) that tells you what gfx cards will work as a secondary card. You should search for it.

Please detail your experience in this thread, whether it works or not.

Cool! Thanks, I will look at this when I get home.

Yes I am running Win XP Home and I have a Geforce 4 Ti4600 and have got a cheap second PCI card to run the other monitor off. I will let u know if I have any problems. I should hopefully be doing it on Wednesday (Tomorrow).

What kind of problems could I encounter then?

Well nothing major ! you need to set up them propeply

First of all, your PCI card will always boot first but in your Bios you might be able to manually determine whether an AGP or PCI video card is the master( boot first ) so if you dont know anything about the bios then grab a friend who does

I guess you know the rest like how to set them in windows( Display properties, etc....)

Good luck !

OK Thanks,

Luckily I do know about the Bios so that shouldn't be a problem. But nothing is ever simple when it comes to me! There is always something that goes wrong!

I know how you feel, everything goes wrong for me too. I just have one question on the topic, does that allow you to like run a game, and a desktop at the same time, or just a wider monitor like thing.

You can use dual monitors in a few different ways. With the graphics card I have got (GeForce 4 Ti4600) You can set it so u can have 2 different desktops on each screen, you can also have so it is one big desktop and u can have 2 seperate monitors with one mouse that can scroll across if that make sense.

Ah, that's cool, but then how does that fare for games, if you got a cheap PCI card hooked up to the other? I think dual or even the triple monitors for games would suck because you got the piece of monitor inbetween them.

If your PCI card isn't supported you'll get a STOP error message when windows boots.

Crossing my fingers for you mate
