BF1942 Optimization

Well heres the problem guys
I think my BF runs very slugish.
and i would like a optimatizion guide or something and heres my specs :

P4 2.53 GHz
1024 mb ddr 266
ATI 9800 pro 128 mb

Well there is always turning down the resolution and graphics. Then there is alway deleting the movie folder, but this just gets to the game faster. You could always try turning the sound to a lower mhz or in differnt channels. Those are a few things that have helped me

run the sound in hardware mode also if you dont, software mode reeally slows the game down compared to hardware mode.
other than that i dunno, your system shuld run the game just fine :bucky!:

I think he was talking about running sound in hardware. Like if you have a Audigy 2 or something like have it run the sound instead of the computer. It will raise fps dramatically. :thumbup:

ofcourse the radeon will run in hardware mode :P

glad to see that atleast Neo_Radeon9700 got what i was saying

:P, you know what i meant, i didnt read the sound part, anyway, not everyone has a sound card :P, software sound is on the mainboard, and hardware is on the Card, i think

try finding a sound card "benchmark" that measures the cpu usage spent on sound. cant recall the name, but i think it's on zdnet somewhere

also, what resolution do you run the game at? When is it sluggish, when loading large terrain chunks, or just in general? Do you have antialiasing / anistropic filtering turned on?

800 x 600 in 16 bit, no AA or AF

im using a xp 1700+ with a radeon 9500 , oc@ 2004MHz and the radeon made pro @ 325/310 with 4xAA 8xAF
@ 1280x960 highest details without any problems or flaws
