Price is the main problem, performance is the other.

Performance wise, AMD is kicking it good with the Athlon 64's (FX's), but up until the 3200+, seems like AMD is struggling to push the clocks higher...

Even though the AMD64's, for the 'consumers', are around, they are ment only for those who are phreaks, price is simply way too high.

As for waiting, go figure, you might never know what AMD has up its sleeve... maybe they want to cash in a bit on the hype, then start competing, and having 64-bit computing go mainstream, sticking it to Intel...

i'll wait a few months to see how it does against the prescott. if the a64 is still on top then there'll also be more (and better) mobos than now. the prescott wont be cheap, but it still remains to be seen how it competes against a 64 bit cpu that even beats the p4s on 32 bit applications

i read on overclockers.com that the prescott wont be that expensive as compared to the athlon 64.... as long as intel can get their heat issues in check, prescott will win the battle i believe... i m an amd fanboy though.....
