I'm buying my first pc -a Dell- and i dont want to spend the extra 200 on the ati 9800 (i know, ati is the better card, but i dont have the cash), and the nVidia FX 5200 comes with the computer anyway so, will this card be enough power to play games like call of duty, moh, americas army, etc??

..ps.. the system i'm getting comes with a p4 2.4ghz, 256ram, etc

thanks

I wold suggest going with the 9800, as you will seriously benefit from the hight mem and core clock speeds, and upgrading your ram to atleast 512mb, because if you wanna play HL2, ive heard its pretty RAM hungry

sure it 'might' be enough if you can settle with lowest detail/resolution in the upcoming games
a fx5200 is to be honest a really really shitty card.
you can compare it to a gf4 mx card which also suck badly.
get a ti4200 or something if you are low on cash, its soooooooo much better.
and also, forget the upcoming games if you stick to 256mb ram, the games will swap like there is no tomorrow so do yourself a favor and get 256 more

dude..... dont get a dell.... its just not cool! that card is ok..... will play the games fine...... but dont expect to play hl2/doom3 type game with any directx9 features going....... get a 9600pro at least.... its more than worth it... 512 ram...... would be the best upgrade though.......

Yup, if they still make those, get one. If not, a 9600 Pro would be about as good...Of course if you can afford it, the 9700 Pro would probably be the best choice (great performance and not "that" expensive right now).

9500 Pro/np and 9700 pro/np are out of production because the costs of production were too high :\

Well i just brought a new Dell computer and i think i got a great deal.. But i have the 128mb nvidia 5200 FX that comes with it, and i have to set all settings on low when i play games like farcry etc..
So i had a look around and found a Hercules 9800 pro for just £99! on www.overclockers.co.uk, So i have orderd it and it is arriving tomorrow!

The sad thing about Dell computer is they usualy always sell with bad RAM, most of there computers come with 256mb, but i managed to grab a deal with..

3.2ghz processor, 512 ram for about £800, and ive now upgraded ram to 1gig for just another £60
I am very happy with my Dell computer allthough they are very pushy when i brought it. Basicaly they said i need a floppy disk drive for the computer to work.. (LOL)
Im not joking, i was not happy about that, so i brought no extras at all..
