the a64 fx might not be as fast as the p4 ee in some of the benchmarks, but considering how the p4 ee is just 32bit and the future obviously lies in 64bit computing the choice would have to be amd.. just too bad registered ram (what the a64 fx requires) sucks right now compared to unregistered ram (what everything else uses), but this should improve in a couple of months i suspect

The new athlon fx is not so good mainly due to its price point, any bench you see it is only marginally faster then the p4 yet it costs $300 more then the p4... I might also add that any 64bit cpu currently is 100% useless. Unless you are running a server there is no reason to have it on a gaming desktop. There is no windows native Desktop that is designed for 64bit computing and if your a gamer its even worse since it will be a long time till 64bit games even show up commonly on the market...

I doubt you have seen any of the bechmarks from Tom's or Anand. The 64fx is much much faster than the P4, and canterwood probably won't have much.

as long as things go as planned i'll wait for the 939 pin a64 fx model, and wait for dual channel mobos that use unregistered ram.. use that with a prometia and you'll get truly insane performance
