Yeah but still, under 30 fps in MOHAA?...Hmm...There's definitely a problem there.

Make sure your AGP rate is set to 4x (or 8x if you have an AGP 2.0 slot) and that the fast writes option is enabled. Apart from that, you should just try closing all other useless programs which might be running in the background 'cause on that setup, even with AF and FSAA at max you should definitely get a decent frame rate in MOH. (raven shield is much slower)

Dear user...the problem you are experiencing with your computer is probably caused by the copious number of fragmented files on your hard drive(s).Try defragmenting consistently ...especially after uninstalling a game. Also;you should try deleting internet cookies and side-doors.

windows 98 SE sucks butt - maybe it's that.
I dunno, but I think OS can make a big difference in performance some times. also, I don't know your motherboard, but I once had a slow motherboard and that made warcraft 3 impossible to play, (i too have an ATi 9700 pro) and once i got a new board, problem solved. look for a Gaming board.
my next board will be A7N8X, check out newegg.com if you think you need one. $130 currently and I'm ordering mine in less than a week.

I have defragged my drive, it makes no different and closing down all the stuff in the background too i only have systray and exp running, im runing my card with fastwrite on with 8x.

my motherboard is a KT4V series designed for AMD and xp processors.
Via KT400 chipset based.

defragging is only needed if the game swap shitloads otherwise its useless to defrag.
and with 512mb ram as he has it wont be happening.
i rarely defrag and my games runs smooth as milk, memory is the key word here

you shuld get better performance in your games, the kt400 chipset is not a monster but it is for sure enough for games (i have 1 my self).
try different drivers for your card.
try other drivers for your motherboard, there have been quite a few hyperion drivers for the via chipset.
check sound drivers.

remember though, mohaa really runs like crap on lots of systems..poorly optimized.
i have heard the same shit about raven shield too.

try some other games and you will know for sure if your system is major f**ked up or if its just those 2 games
try the call of duty demo for example, same engine as mohaa and the expansions but runs miles better.
