OK, every time i go to install a game off a CD or off the Hard Drive It comes up with an error saying the data1.cab (or Data2.cab...and so on) file is corrupt when i know it isnt because it works fine on any other computer. Its really getting annoying because alot of the new demos i download dont work. Ive tried many tools to install the games manually but they come up with the same corrupt file problem.
Im running Windows XP Any help?

Weird indeed...
Check if the cab files aren't associated with a program like WinZip or sth else (double-click on a cab file and see if it opens with a proggy other than windows explorer). If this is the case, remove that association and see if this help or not... |

Well I know this problem from someone elses computer nothing would intsall anymore. This is already lying 2 years back and back then we tried for many weeks but after all we had to reinstall the system.
What you can try is look for some windows installer or alike update @ Microsoft and if I remember correctly there was a patch in the general updates section of Windows Update concerning installs but I believe that was only concerning hardware drivers. Hope this helps, DS |
