Does Windows Xp give You Performance In Games,

I have Windows 98, and i was told that your os makes a different in performance, i have ati 9700 pro , and raven shield runs slow , and spearhead, and halo in places, halo runs ok when i tweak my graphics setting in desktop, and put they to performance, so maybe its becase of win 98 i dunno, any ideas???

pc spec are:
Win 98
512 ddr ram
2.1 ghz xp processor
ati 9700 pro
msi VIA KT400 based chipset motherboard, KT4V Series.

In retrospect he would be looking back, reverting to an older OS :P

but yeah, i ONLY use XP because its easy to home network that way

otherwise id use 2k

i use xp cos it boots quicker and crashes less, but i used win2k for ages as well and that was very nice

could you please explain to me how 2k is older than 98? ;)

for a while some people have been saying that gamers should use xp because you get better performance than in win2k, but the funny thing is that most extreme benchmarkers use win2k because they can run the hardware at more aggressive settings with less crashes and such. i personally use win2k because im just used to how it works, and because i dont like the colors and the ûber friendliness in xp

ThANKS ANY WAY GUYS I THINK I WILL JUST TRY XP, BECAUSE ITS NEWER LOL, MY WIN 98 KEEPS CRASHING MY GAMES TOO.
