ati 9700 pro card

i installed xp couple of weeks ago, i notice my games are running alot slower, than with win 98, i then notice that in my setting in smartgart , that my set AGP speed was on 4x , which should be 8x, as my motherboard supports it , KT400 msi, also fastwrite is not on, every time i change these setting too 8x and fastwrite on as it should be i restart and its still the same? 4x and fastwrite off,

i checked my bios and it looks the same as before, when its was working with win 98. this very strange

all i want is it too be 8x and fastwrite on. ;)

ATI catalyst 3.8/9 are optimized for Rad 96 and 98 but 97 gets corny performents like AA and AF disabled and such

1). Go into your BIOS and check the settings for AGP: Bus Speed, Voltage and caching. Ensure your BIOS settings meet the requirements of the Radeon 9700 Pro, also ensuring it is a AGP3.0 compatiable card you are using, not an AGP2.0 variant.

2). For VIA chipset motherboards, download and install the latest VIA 4 in 1 driver suite. Do a 'custom' install and ensure you install the AGPGart driver and selecting 'install turbo' if appropriate to your hardware.

3). Uninstall 'ANY' VGA tweaking utilities from add/remove programs and if required the registry.

4). Uninstall and then re-install the latest catalyst driver suite.
