Help, my Half-Life key STOLEN!

Does anyone know what I can do because someone seems to have my key and registered on steam and now I can't play!
I think someone stole it at a LAN party..
I emailed valve but no response yet. Any help appreciated.

I would think that if I sent them my key (I have it stored on my comp in a txt document cuz I write the all down when I get new ones in case I lose the case and I lost the case for my HL) that they could deactivate it, and send me a fresh new one..
I know there's no possible way of telling whether I got the key legit or not but I lost the box and the case and receipt (I bought it in 1999!) so how could I possibly keep it secret for so long!?
I tried..
Any help would be great, I'll post anything if valve responds to my email.

next time, don't put important stuff such as ur half-life key inside ur computer. people could easily stole it from u. well, u might just have to wait for the response from valve. gd luck, :thumbup:

Be ready for sending them package with your game. You will get another one.

PS. Is Valve publisher of HL in your Country? If not, then send emali to your publisher.

gosh, I don't even have the case, cd or anything..
I have a case of Counter-Strike with a different key on it and cd, but not my original Half-Life case, cd, box, or anything. just the key on my comp.
If I ever find out who has my key... I'm going to beat the hell out of them! :rant: :rant: :rant:

No diprespect if your here for honest reasons but I think it needs to be said just as sort of a disclaimer for the site.

If your here tryin to find CD keys or key "crackers" then you should look somewere else. This is a totally legit site and we don't trade or even tell where to find CD keys or games that were not physically bought by your self.

If your totally honest then I honestly am sorry for making the comment and hope that you find an answer for your problem.

oh no, I wasn't even attempting to imply that I wanted anybody to offer a cd key AT ALL. I don't want anybody else's key. I asked my parents to just buy me the $20 counter-strike at the store and I can use the new key so I guess the problem is solved, but at my expense. :nxs:
i'm still mad that somebody actually stole my old one though! :rant:

half life is an old game. i also don't have the slightest idea where my box and cd are, luckily i still have my key working though.

I can't imagine how I could possibly keep track of a cd case and box for 4-5 years.. Over that amount of time, I've gone through so many more games and when I start having piles of CD's and boxes, things need to be cleaned out and THROWN AWAY.. It could have accidently been tossed into the trash..

How was I supposed to know my key would get stolen? It really wasn't common for a game to require a key back then either, the whole cd key thing was just getting started and it's been known that back then, you could have multiple people playing online with the same key.
Someone stealing my key was just unexpected so I hope valve will give me a break.. but I'm sure I don't have enough to prove I bought it legit.
Well if HL was that important, I would cancel my AMD Barton 2500 order right now...but I guess I can wait a little longer to save up $20.
