I'm trying to burn and run this program to disk and it comes in two files. One is the data, the meat of the program if you will, but it also comes with another small ISO file that I know I need to burn to the disc inorder for it to run but I keep getting an error message, is there any special way to go about burning an ISO? Could it more likely be that I am using Memorex digital audio CD-Rs? Any advice would be apriciated.

Well, i"m not sure if it would help, but why not open both iso fils (e.g. in winiso) and inject the files of the small one into the big iso... then you could try out the new iso file to see if it works this way... and if it does burn it to a cd... i've never had a program split in two isos before, so i'm just guessing...

EDIT: Why don't you ask on the site you got it from? They should know...

How big are each of the ISO files? If they are 585MB a piece, there is no way you will be able to fit 2 ISOs on one CD. Which software are you using to burn the ISO files? I have been using Nero and Alcohol 120% and they have outperformed most other software I have used in the passed. They are both reliable and consistent. Is the ISO file corrupt? Maybe you downloaded a corrupt version of the ISO. You could try downloading it again.

Note: I just checked the website and they only list 1 ISO.

1 ISO is 482mb and the other is only 32kb, the smaller one is burried under several menus but its there and you need it run the program from disc. Anyway, I use Burn-4Free, it sounds like a cheesy freeware program but it acctually is pretty nice, it has the burn ISO option and thats what I use but for some reason I keep getting an error message, I even re DLed the file directly from the site but still the same message. This is starting to piss me off, I really want PHLAK, its a very unique version of Linux.

i checked that up and the only file you shuld get is the .iso file, dont bother with the md5..its only used to validate the .iso file so you dont got a corrupt file.
so in other words..get only the .iso (phlak-0.2-1.iso) or (phlak-0.2.iso) and then burn it with any program that supports the .iso format.
trust me this is the right way because i have burned lots of linux distributions so i know
and if you are unsure if your downloaded iso file is error free you can check that with the md5 file. use google and you will find help on that.
good luck.

edit: i really suggest that you get a REAL program like nero or cdrwin (both burn .iso)
a bad burn prog can seriously screw things up badly.

Ah, thank you very much for the help. I was getting very frustrated with my failed efforts to get this thing running, I've never dealt with ISO files or Linux. Now I can start learning "the dark arts". Whahahahahah!!!!!!

Do you realise that this thread started 5 years ago? If he hasn't found out how to burn ISOs now he never will.

someone searching (Google, Bing or whatever) for info on how to burn ISOs may find this thread useful. So I do not mind this case of thread revival much.

Steps to burn an ISO-image
Steps to create a CD if you have downloaded Active@ ISO Burner:
1) Download the ISO CD image to a folder on your computer.
2) Insert a blank CD in your CD-RW drive.
3) Run Active@ ISO Burner.
4) Type the path to ISO image file or click Browse button to locate it via standard File Open dialog.
5) Click the [BURN ISO!] button to start the process of writing ISO image to CD.
