No 64-bit OS equals Athlon 64 waste of money. Wait for a 64-bit OS and 64-bit games to be released before you buy an Athlon 64. I mean seriously, wtf is the point? Just so you can be faster than everyone else? You are still running a 64-bit processor in a 32-bit environment. So the 64 performs better in the benchmarks. So what. I can play Call of Duty with the settings on high everyday of the week with my 32-bit processor and you don't see me complaining.

Intel even stated that the release of the 64-bit CPU was premature. AMD released it early to prevent the company from acquiring more debt. If you do some research you will find that AMD is struggling to maintain their position in this market.

As you said yourself, the 64's run better better than any 32-bit on the market right now, and having a 64 bit system is good reassurance that you can run any 64 bit app. or game that comes out in the near future.. talk about killing two birds with one stone?

And if you really wanna beleive what Intel say - A RIVAL COMPANY -, obviously want to keep Intel customer's happy by feeding them bullshit to keep them from buying 64 bit CPU's.. and go for their 'Intel EXTREME EDITION' - which is STILL 32 bit, because AMD surprized them by bringing out their 64bit, which Intel would charge twice the price for - as they do with everything else.

Yes, you are totally correct about "killing two birds with one stone." The point I was making is why spend the $749 now, right now, when there are no 64-bit PC games. Not many gamers are willing to drop $749 on a processor. For example, alot of gamers would rather buy the 2500+ and overclock it to 3200+ then buy the 3200+ to begin with. I really do not see the need to buy a 64-bit CPU as of now.

Intel can say whatever they want. AMD came out with the first 64-bit CPU available for the end-user and obviously Intel was not too happy. But it is not fair to dismiss what Intel has to say. Maybe you cannot believe everything you hear or read but not everyone is full of shit. They do make a valid point. They believe the release of the 64-bit CPU was premature and I just happen to agree. Not because I am an Intel fan-boy but because I look at the facts.

Note: newegg.com lists the AMD Athlon 64 3200+ as the only 64-bit Windows compatible processor. They also list the AMD Athlon 64 FX-51 as the only 64-bit Windows compatible processor. I do not understand. Are those the only 2 processors that will work with a 64-bit Windows OS?

$749? No.

And the 64 tends to perform better than similarly clocked 32 bit only processors I believe.

You didn't specify the FX-51. No one in their right mind would buy that. I have a 64 3200+ myself.

The 3000+ is nearly half the price of 3200+, but only had half the cache
