System freezing during games/multimedia

Hey, I just rebuilt my computer. Its a 1GHz GeForce2 mx and i installed the newest drivers for my video card. Whenever I play a game or a video file, it freezes about 40% of the time. I haven't installed the newest drivers for my chipset or motherboard, if that could be the problem. If you can give me alittle guidence that would be great. If you do respond, could you give me a few ideas and I will try them ASAP. Thanks for the help.

either your cpu / gpu cooling isn't mounted right, causing too high temperatures, or your ram isn't very good (meaning you might want to upgrade to more quality components)
