nhl 2004 patch

I have been trying to install the 1.04 patch for nhl 2004. I have tried everything. I even went to ea.com and did everything it said and it also said patch was installed. But every time I go to play, I have the same version (1.01) or version 1. Why won't this work? Any help would be great. Or any other tips. Thanks alot.
