Hey guys... Just wanted to let you know about one of our latest reviews I thought you might be interested in over @ TheTechLounge. We checked out PowerColor's Radeon 9800XT 256MB Video Card, and compared it with a Leadtek A380 Ultra TDH MyVIVO (FX 5950 Ultra). I was absolutely amazed at how extremely well the card performed, and the fact is that there is no other consumer video card on the market currently that can out-perform this beast. Here's a link to our review:
http://www.thetechlounge.com/review.php?di...n_9800xt_update Any of you have any experience with this card? If so, how do you like it? Was it worth the $ to you, etc...? btw... sorry if this post seems like a spam or something, i just thought you guys might be interested in it. the powercolor 9800xt is a gamer's heaven (no pun intended... cough... this is gamer's hell... cough...) ![]() EDIT: is this supposed to go in hardware section? lol... if so feel free to move it. sorry about that. ![]() |

i have one in my pc right now, cooled by a dangerden maze3 waterblock, and i agree that it performs really well
my review should be up on hwhell.com in not too many days. It is worth the money if you want to spend a lot to get the greatest, but it's not THAT much faster in all benchmarks, so it doesn't give you as much for your money as a 9600xt - by far.

well... in a way i agree, and in a way i don't...
as far as performance goes, i think it is worth every penny, because what other card do you know of that you can play any game at the HIGHEST settings with the HIGHEST AA/AF settings (6xAA/16xAF on 9800xt) with practically no performance loss over lower settings. In fact, in our tests, we found it to sometimes perform BETTER with higher settings than with low settings. Crazy, eh? I think 9600XT is definitely a good value, but I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a 9800XT. To me, it is worth every penny. This card REALLY shines when you compare it to the 5950 Ultra with both cards at highest settings. That is when the 9800XT just blows the competition away... I really love this card, can you tell? :francesco: |

Im tired of all these reviews, the fact of the matter is the 5950 is
a wimpy gutless wonder, just like the rest of the Nvidia FX series, the problem is poor dx9 pixel shader performance and AA performance. in DX8 Titles, the Ti4200 smokes the 5600... LOL the FX is just not up to par when you crank up the resolution, I personally use a 21" monitor and play everything at 1280x1024 with full AA/AF (why wouldnt I, I spent nearly $400 on my 9800 Pro) Did I buy this card NOT to crank up the AA/AF/RES??? I dont think a driver is gunna help these NV issues anytime soon, so hands down the winner is ATI at the moment. at this moment in time...If you go and spend $500 on a 5950 your smoking dope. Fanboy or not. Sadly...at 1280x1024 with Full AA/AF, a paltry 9600 Pro (NOT EVEN XT) will hand a 5900 ITS ASS and this is fact. just my .02 Flux |

if all that comes from nvidia is garbage then why did my gainward 5900 ultra (53.03) outperform my powercolor 9800xt (4.2) in a couple of benchmarks?
i think the gfx war would be interesting if dx9 used 32bit pixel precision (nvidia directly supports 32 and 16), instead of just 24bit, which is what ati cards use.

unfortuanely i have a 256Mb 9800 pro. but i have read quite a bit and seen some 9800xt vs 5950 performace in my shop. i think the 9800XT is quite incredible and the fact that it supports 16 24 and 32 bit FPU color precision make it a better buy than any comparable Nvidia card simply because alot of next-gen games are gonna be in 24 Bit floating point. why buy a card than cant do it all...makes no sense to me. now saying a 5900 series fx is gutless is just plain worng they are quick...but only in nvidia favored apps. kinda like SSE ans SSE2 are nice...but only if the proggy supports it same with HT and dual CPU shit.as far as this fanboy shit i have seen run rampant recently it makes me wonder WTF happend. i remember when it didnt matter what vendor made the stuff as long as it was the best. hell i remember buying a soyo dragon mobo and a AMD 1.4ghz tbird cuz that was the best back then. and i like intel...but i bought cuz it was the best investment not cuz i was anti intel. you guys gotta stop this vendor battles shit. if we keep it up these companies are gonna stop trying to wow with raw performance and get ya caught up in geeky hype. and thats no goodmake a stand my fellow geeks and buy components that are the best for the cash...not cuz a certain company makes it.
