Help-American Idol Demo

I am trying to play the demo version of American Idol and it does not work. I downloaded the patch but it tells me the American Idol is not installed on my machine. Soooo basically my question is " Does the patch work with the demo??"

Can somebody help me?

I am pretty sure the patch is for the full game
