KT4V Motherboard, agp is set to auto, not 8x,?

ok, i got a KT4V series motherboard , and in bios in agp setting, etc, it is set to auto, i want it set to 8x or 4x, as my graphics card needs it, i have ati 9700 pro, i have got performance problems in games , like lag in raven shield etc.

but i cant select it , and it is locked in some way, how do i unlocked it? so i can set it to 4x or 8x.

this must be the reason im lagging in games, as i have tryed everything else.

if it is set to auto then it uses the max your card can use and thats 8x.
i have own a kt4 board and thats how it worked for me as long as you have your chipset drivers installed which includes agp drivers.

but anyway..give us some more information like what resolution you use? graphic settings?
what cpu do you got? how much memory? have you patched your copy? and so on.
also are you using the hyperion drivers for your motherboard or some other old shit?

I've had problems with AGP and Fast Write settings on my ATI 9800 Pro, which were fixed by updating my motherboard drivers. I have a different (Asus P4P800) motherboard tho.

my spec are:

kt4v motherboard
512 ddr ram
128 mb ati 9700 pro agp
20 gb hardrive 7200 rpm seagate
2.1 ghz XP amd altlon processor
mircosoft XP pro

im getting lag in fps, on raven shield , mohaa in areas, lots of lag call of duty, unplayable, halo etc.

i know its because its set to auto, like i said i tryed everything else, how i unlocked it and set to 4 x or 8x??

i have all the latest drivers for my card.

its NOT because its set to auto.
do you even know what Auto means?
Auto means that it automaticly uses the best possible agp speed which would be 8x since your card can do 8x.

raven shield is known for its sucky performance.
but what game settings are you using?
maybe your just going over your hardware limit??
and you can check in your control panel for your gfx card what agp speed you are running at.

but FORGET about the auto thing because its not the cause.

ok first off, 8x isnt gonna make much difference b/t 4x-standard on oldy mobo's, -so thats not causing it. This is obviously user error thats causing horrible framerates- i had a 1.4ghz athlon w/ a 9700 non pro, with a sucky ass mobo, and it played all the games you mentioned, even HALO nicely. Apparently, your either due for a cleaning, try defragging, if that doesnt work then swipe it clean(format your drive), reinstall the latest of everything. you might need a soundcard too if you dont have one(no soudn card reduces framerates), ALSO, is your processor really a 2.1ghz, or a 2100+ althon xp, BIG difference!

what is it you dont understand? :bucky!:

auto means that it AUTOMATICLY pick your fastest agp speed, 4x or 8x and since your gfx card can run at 8x it uses 8x when its set to auto.
if you dont understand the word auto and what it means, look it up in a dictionary
so OFCOURSE it cant be that since you ARE running in 8x ;)

1 thing you still havent answered is, have you installed the latest patches for raven shield?!?!
if not do that asap.

yea it is a althon xp processor 2.1 ghz 2600 runing at 2.1 ghz, and of course i patch all my games, otherwise would not be enable to play them over the net, because there be no servers? i defragged that does not work, i have reformated my pc lots of times, and change my OS, to XP from win 98. and my games lagged on that too, so it cant be my OS. this fecking confussing
