I dont think it will even play on your system mate, you need a Direct X 9 compatible graphics card, such as the Radeon 9500 and upwards from that (9600Xt,9700,9800) - or a Geforce Fx series card (but not the Fx 5200)

Let's just say that some people have been able to run the leak on DirectX 8.1 compatible card with shaders. So my guess it that you might be able to play it, but not with all the graphics you want. There is also that Apple presentation that ran Doom III on the Geforce 3 a couple years back. I'm guessing that it would work fine on a Radeon 9200.

True, i think you need Smartshader v 1.1 or higher to be able to run Doom 3, but remember, its gonna be mainly Dx9 - so its advisable to buy a Dx9 card to see the game in all its glory

I actually played the beta 2.0 version of DOOM3 with AMD 2500 (overclocked to 2.1 ghz-3100) 512 kb ram-382 mhz and RADEON 9200. I played between 10 - 30 fps with every graphic option open. (there was no high detail option) if you consider that my graphic card sucks, I think we can play the game smoothly with a 9600xt - if it is not delayed -

Hi,
{new here} I just saw a post that says doom 3 needs a dx9 compatiable card. So why cant you use a fx5200 its dx9 compatiable?..and Ive overclocked it to 300 3d clock and 500 core clock surely this will work. Also would you recommend updating to 1gb ram from 512mb would it make a big difference in my gaming? Also does 8x agp actually help in anyway?
AMD 2000+
512mb RAM pc2100
GeForce FX 5200 128
ASRock K7S8X
400w PSU
