i got a 9600xt for christmas for like $200, and so far it has been able to play any game at 1024x768 with all the details up except Far Cry. I can play most games an 1280x1024, but sometimes it doesn't work, and sometimes the option isn't available. Far Cry is in a class of its own, i can play 1024x768 with everything at medium and it works great. The 9800xt is the greatest card of all time I wanted to get it before but it was like $500, and my parents said "it was too expensive" lol. Have fun with it, cause that thing is gonna be awesome!!! w00t

I'm looking at getting a new card, I don't have the money for a 9800XT, I have a $200 budget. I was wondering if the 9600 XT w/256meg is my best bet. Is your 9600XT 256meg or 128meg? I just killed my 9500 128meg from overclocking it, it ran far cry perfectly with all medium settings.

Trust me!! I'm going to enjoy it!!!! It gonna be longer days infront of the computer now!! And about the 9600 Xt i think that is your best choice!! You only need 128 mb but it doesn't hurt with 256

9800xt works wonders with farcry, although i only get about 30-40 fps with all setting ultra high. Its worth every penny in my opinion. Although some of my other hardware might be helping that.

Okay, now I decided to go ahead and pay the extra money to get a 9800 pro instead of the $200 more for a 9800XT. Now, I was searching to buy one and there are a bunch of 9800 pro cards and I don't know which one to get. One is by Sapphire, one is Atlantis, etc. I don't know which one to get. When I look at the different 9800 pro cards, the prices are all different but being sold on the same site and are all 9800 pro 128meg. So, I'm stuck and I don't know which one to get. Is Sapphire better or is the ATI OEM one better or what's going on here? I do know that different companies are using the 9800 pro chipset on their cards, but is the more expensive one better [that is definitely not always true]? It's like, on Allstarshop.com, they have about 5 different 9800 pro cards which all have 128meg, but they range from $206-$307. It doesn't make sense to me. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!

ok first off-consider newegg.com as a purchase place-excellent service, ultrafast shipping, here's a link to all of their 9800 cards http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?...ycodevalue=4632
you cant go wrong with a 9800pro, no matter what company it is. However, sapphire is prob one of hte best "powered by ati" company's. Basically-itll be cheaper than ATI name, and is nearly identical-and sometimes overclocked- other good one's are powercolor, herculese, asus, and some others... sapphire in my oppion is the best flat out-very stable, very fast, and very good quality! -hope that helped. p.s..-altantis is just a name for the card given by sapphire. like Acura's "RSX"
