Here's the deal. My comp NEVER resets while I'm browsing the net or anything like that. But it seems to be resetting during any game I play. Random resets. I don't know why but I'll give you my system specs and any details I can think of but let me know if you need to know anything else.
I've had this problem for a while, but I recently went to a lan and won these two prizes in tournaments: Super LANBOY TrueBlue 480 Watt PSU Yeah, so I assumed those things would stop my resets because I thought it was because of overheating (because my old case sucked, no fans, nothing, just ghetto). So I've got more power (from the PSU) and much better cooling (case) and the problem still persists. Any help would be great. I read in some other forums that adusting the RAM speed somehow fixed this kind of problem.. I don't know but I thought before I OC'd my computer or messed with any of my clock speeds and crap I wanted to see what you guys thought. So please, don't hesitate to share ANY ideas ANY at all. GH forums rule! -Jdub

Your comp resets when its under load, right?
The first that comes to mind is the power supply, thats pretty often the problem like you described. I have herd someone had a 550 wat PSU and the comp restarted when entering 3d interface (when under big load), and he changed to a different (better quality) make 300wat PSU, and that did the thing. The PSU was so bad overrated, that it was actualy a shit. Try setting the clock speeds in bios back to normal, even better under normal, and all the settings to minimal stress for your comp first. You should have started by posting the specs - MainBoard, video, CPU, ram. Was your comp running normal earlier? When did the problems start? Most important, dont start playin around with your memory timings, set all to normal, or below. You can Tweak after all is working normal, not earlier. |

my specs are in my sig.. i think the problem might be graphics card overheating, or possibly my ram is going bad so i'm gonna test it with my friend today. he's bringin his comp over and i'm gonna test his 9800 pro on my board..

i wouldn't think it to be bad cooling because my case has great cooling if you saw the link i had above.
though that doesn't rule out the possibility of the card overheating. see, if i try my friend's card and it works fine, then i know maybe the heatsink on my card doesn't have good contact or something, it would at least show me that something is wrong with my card (if his card stops the crashing).

Check:
>Check your PSU model through google to see if anyone has posted anything on your particular model. >CPU clocks and core voltage. >RAM/DDR timings, if possible set to 'auto' or 'By SPD'. >AGP Transfer Rate is 'Auto' or as required by your adapter. >Disable 'Fast Writes'. >Enable 'Pnp' plug and play settings. >Set your IRQ Assignment to 'auto'. >Disable all overclocking settings and utilities. >Check your RAM modules for consistency (This was the cause of my resetting woes!). Download this ISO and burn to CD-ROM. Code:
