My new graphics card has been nothing but trouble for me since I bought it. I know it is not a good gaming card but I couldnt even play Halo and now Far Cry crashes in a particular place in the game(research - mine) I have catalyst 4.2 ,(4.3 is a disaster :nxs: those bastards dont know shit about programming) and directx9b installed. Can anybody help me about it? I dont wanna miss this great game

hey hey, dont call ati programmers "bastards," (unless you were refering to someone else) -obviously your card cant handle sh*t, its actually on old 8500 card-same exact tech-that card is ssooooooooo old-built when counterstrike came out-obviously-your card wont work-it cant handle directx9 tech-its designed on dx8 first off. its shader tech is ancient and everything else about it...sorry to bring the bad news.

his card might be crap but farcry still supports it so his card beeing crap is not the cause of the crash.
and this becomes even more obvious since it crashes at 1 place all the time. what have you tried so far? i mean to fix the problem. have you tried using 640x480 and put EVERYTHING on low in the settings? try running your sound in compatible mode. have you aa/af enabled in the control panel? putting everything on low and 640x480 is a good thing to test because the cave in that research level is really really demanding on the hardware, so if your settings are too high it might actually crash there. |

Come on, my card cant be that bad (it could handle doom3 beta) I mean at least it shouldnt crash like that. Whatever, thanks for the advice molle. I called ati programmers bastards because I used nvidia detonators before and I think catalyst drivers and control panel sucks. I used two gforce mx cards before and although they were slower, they never crashed in any game.

bad news for me : I lowered every graphic and sound option and it crashes again in the cave. I will install far cry 1.1 and pray that will solve the problem. Otherwise I think I will sell this card for a 9600xt

yeh m8, dont think u mite, do sell and get a 9600 of sum sort. For me on the demo of far cry i originally had a 9200 but the demo wuld run only in low detail settings, then on the research demo level the game wuld then crash when the monster killed the merc. I got myself a 9600 and taadaa! i have never had any probs wotsoever!
As said above, the 9200 is a great card an all but it lacks DX9 compatibility thus it cannot handle wot the latest games are producing in high detail or even in low in certain areas of games. The 9600 and above does support DX9 and so all games to date run nicely and smoothly wiv no slowdown! Then again it also helps to have high amounts of ram and a fast processor to boot :P
