Professiaonal help needed!Who is a proffesional?please help
questions about bios:
1 Integrated peripherals:
parallel port mode: spp,epp,ecp.
what it means?what should i select? best?

2 Power managament setup:
acpi suspend type:s1(pos),s3(str)
what is best?

3 Bios flash protection:
Auto:allows bios to update flash data during post.
It still prevents other unathorized utilities to update flash
Enable:always prevent bios and other utilities to updste flash.
What means word "prevent"? :bucky!: :bucky!: :Oo:

Even though I’m not a pro- I’ve been here. And I don’t know what you’re running from your motherboard? So I would suggest:
1. Epp should be your best bet.
2. I believe implementation into the Bios differs from manufacturer to manufacturer. Basically you’re choosing which suspend state Windows _Standby_ uses. So something like this- S1= (Power on Suspend) processor stops and remains connected to the bus, Keeping the state and the content of internal registers.
S3= (Suspend to RAM) processor stops and does not keep the state and the content of internal registers. To me S1 is safer. S3 consumes less energy.
3. Prevent means Stop.

I would say, if everything works fine, you shouldn change those settings now. They wont add you performance.

1) If you dont have a printer on the paralel port, just switch it off for now, othervise auto should work fine.
3) Prevent means Turn Off. If you your not scared that someone tryes to flash your bios unsacsesfuly, then you can leave it on Auto.

Your advice is typically good-this is just confusing to use Epson and Hewlett Pacckard in your definition. Even if these companies are the catalyst of the tech.

Simply-
SPP:
Standard Parallel Ports-run at very slow speeds (your definition was decent here).

EPP:
Enhanced Parallel Port-does not use a DMA channel which is good for systems that have many devices installed.

ECP:
Enhanced Capabilities Port-use a DMA channel and usually provide only a small increase in speed.

I tried to let this go and finally choose not to.
