I just wanted to alert you guys on a new virus which was uncovered March 31/04. The name is in the title of topic and it is a category level 3 threat.
It is a new worm that is being circulated via Kazaa and if you are infected your computer will corrupt certain MP3 files you open at 15 second intervals and will ruin your data!

Read this through carefully. I found out about this virus from a website i go to called tranceaddict.com from my guess this virus was created by someone who is mad at this website and some others(this is all detailed in link)maybe this individual is mad at the Dj industry or trance music and is doing this.


"stays idle and is triggered when the system writes or reads to a file ending with the MP3 suffix. It will then search for an ID3 (v1/v2) tag and if the "Genre" field has "Trance" selected it will then release its payload and corrupt the music file at 15 second intervals*" -- taken from linked text( it seems it mostly targets trance music files but don't be fooled it can damage alot of stuff not just mp3 files)

I ahve not beeen infected and i'm sure most of you guys haven't i'm just giving heads up if anyone has encountered this worm then give us some feedback here on the forums and tell us about it and hopefully how to get rid of it; right now there is no removal tool
