Vice City (PC) oddities with frame limiter

Hi, got a question, hopefully someone else has seen this issue and has a solution for it. This one took me quite a while to find. I run with frame limiter off with no issues, until today.

The problem:

Cars and boats (boats are worse) are not "up to speed" with frame limiter OFF. The two missions I have seen this in the Stunt Boat Challenge and check point Charlie. Basically the boat is so slow it will barely clear the ramp. On Stunt Boat Challenge it lands on the golf course and just stays there. If I turn frame limter "ON" the boat screams. I run in 1600x1200x32 with all the eye candy, and generally see about 150FPS or higher. I do need to run in win98 compatibility mode so I don't have the "draw ahead" problems.

Here's my system specs:

Athlon 64 3200+
K8V deluxe mobo
1GB RAM
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (detonator 4.5)
Audigy 2 sound card

Anyone know why this is? I can't play with the frame limiter ON, it gives me a headache. It looks incredible with it off, and I get excellent FPS, but the vehicles move slow. HELP!

i would say:

go to the next one if it doesn't work ;)

1) try to update the game

2) try to update you ati drivers

3) update everything else you have on you pc that runs hardware

4) take a backup of your saved games and reinstall vice city

that's what i should do, but who am i :bucky!:

and if that doesn't help i haven't got a clue and you are supposed to wait on another reply
