anything involving 9600 will be slow. 768mb ram might sound nice, but it'll ruin the speed boost of dual channel, so in games it'll probably be slower than 512mb in dual channel.

i'd go for the xeon if I had to choose

my dad wont let me buy my amd 2500+ or a p4 2.4 1mb l2 cache 533 fsb...
instead he wants me to get a 3 ghz so i wont have to upgrade for a long time..
so im getting 3.0E ghz 1mb l2 cache HT 800fsb for 220$
my geforcefx5200 256mb can host a listen server on unreal tournament 2004 with 30 players at 1280x1024 with 2x anti aliasisng, no AF, PS 2.0 and VS 2.0 and maxed settings, except no trilinear filtering, flawlessly without lag.

thats amazing if you ask me, as im runing a 1.3 ghz p4 with 128mb rdram..
i cant wait to see the difference of a 3 ghz with HT and 1mb cache... and 512mb ddr!

Again, the most loserous poll in a lifetime!

Why do you compare configurations with different speeds and memory?
Believe me, the poll above isn't high-end at all, I mean,

Why the f**k did you include 3 different graphic card models? :Oo:

The poll should be like,
  • Intel Pentium 4 @ 3.60GHz -- 1GB Dual Channel PC4300 SDRAM 533MHz -- ATI RADEON X800 XT PCI Express 256MB
  • AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-53 -- 1GB Dual Channel PC4300 SDRAM 533MHz -- ATI RADEON X800 XT PCI Express 256MB
  • Intel Pentium 4 @ 3.60GHz -- 1GB Dual Channel PC4300 SDRAM 533MHz -- NVIDIA GeForce Ultra 6800 PCI Express 256MB
  • AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-53 -- 1GB Dual Channel PC4300 SDRAM 533MHz -- NVIDIA GeForce Ultra 6800 PCI Express 256MB

Those are killer configs to choose from!
(PS, don't make that poll either, stop making useless polls! :rant

:dennis:
agreed

poll sucks! , and the resulats even more! how the heck 9600XT can surpass a 9800XT?
